The new Wheel-Trans Bus

After an exhaustive 3-year search to find the best accessible low-floor ramp-equipped bus for service in Toronto, Wheel-Trans has a contract to purchase 110 new Friendly Buses, from Dallas Smith Corporation in Indiana, to be placed into service over the next 3 years.  We expect delivery of the new buses in Spring, 2009.
The Friendly Bus was introduced to Wheel-Trans customers at the 2007 People in Motion Show, where they were asked for comment.
The new Friendly Bus will feature all of the improvements developed and installed in the ELF Bus as well as some new features to improve service quality for our customers.

The new buses will feature:

  • Quieter, smoother ride
  • Improved lighting inside and out
  • Improved passenger window visibility
  • Lower kneeling capability
  • Wider passenger door opening and larger device zones
  • Camera system for the safety of Customers and Drivers
  • Passenger to Driver call buttons
  • Automatic Vehicle Location (GPS)
