Seasons Greetings to all Wheel-Trans Riders

On behalf of the TTC's Advisory Committee on Accessible Transportation, I would like to reflect on the work that ACAT and TTC staff have accomplished during 2008. It has been a year of unprecedented cooperation with a single vision by all, making the TTC conventional and Wheel-Trans service accessible to all users of the system. We have made phenomenal progress building on the work and dedication of past ACAT priorities.

ACAT Accomplishments for 2008

  • Made recommendations for changes to the Eligibility Criteria
  • Provided guidance with the revision of the LC/NS Policy
  • Served as a Pilot group for Internet Trip Booking - mywheel-trans.ttc.ca
  • Served as a Pilot Group for the TTC’s Accessible Web Site - www.ttc.ca
  • Improved the reporting of Elevator Service in Accessible subways
  • Developed a detailed audit to evaluate the quality of accessible fixed-route service
  • Participated in developing the New Light Rail strategy and the Metrolink advancements
  • Participated in the creation of an Easier Access Video
  • Participated in  the selection of new vehicles
  • Provided input to new taxi contracts

A special thanks to all ACAT members who worked cooperatively with a single vision in mind, and a special thanks to Vice-Chairs Scott McArthur and Susan Davidson for stepping up and helping to carry the work load of a vibrant and forward moving Committee. On behalf of all ACAT members, we wish all TTC patrons, staff and ACAT members a safe, healthy and prosperous New Year and a joyous holiday season.
