About Wheel-Trans Service
What kind of identification do I need for the interview?
Please bring photo identification which displays your name and address.
Can I bring a translator with me to the interview?
Yes, you may be accompanied to the interview and have someone translate for you at all times during the interview process.
If you require a Sign Language Interpreter, please allow us a minimum of two weeks to make the arrangmements.
How will I know if I have been approved and registered for the service?
You will receive notification in the mail within approximately 10 business days following your interview. If you are approved, you will receive a registration card and number, along with a Welcome to Wheel-Trans package.
What if I am denied service following my interview?
If you do not meet the Wheel-Trans eligibility requirements you will be notified by letter. Each applicant is entitled to appeal as outlined in the notification letter.
Do you have to be using a wheelchair/scooter to qualify for the service?
No, you do not have to be in a wheelchair or scooter to qualify for the service, but you do have to exhibit a need for a modified or accessible vehicle.
Can someone travel with me on the Wheel-Trans?
Yes, each Registrant may be accompanied by one escort weekdays, Monday to Friday, with additional escorts permitted on weekends and statutory Holidays.
You may request that additional escorts be accommodated on weekdays, space permitting, by calling Reservations two hours prior to your scheduled pickup time. Escorts do not have to be registered with Wheel Trans but must pay the appropriate fare.
Can I use the service of Wheel-Trans for shopping or visiting relatives?
Yes, once registered, you may use the services for any trip purpose.
Do I need to live in Toronto to use Wheel-Trans?
No, you do not have to be a resident of Toronto to register for the services of Wheel Trans.
Can tourists to Toronto use Wheel-Trans?
Individuals with disabilities who visit Toronto may use Wheel-Trans service for a two week period yearly. You must be registered with a paratransit provider where you live (i.e. wheelchair and scooter users). Please call Wheel-Trans Reservations at 416 393 4222 to set up this two week temporary service, weekdays after 12:00 noon. If you require Wheel-Trans service for an extended period, you must contact Wheel-Trans Customer Service at 416-393-4111 to register for the service.
