Toronto is a great walking city so for shorter trips, it may make more sense to walk to your destination. Trip Planner can show you a Walking Only Itinerary option for trips under 2000 metres (2 kilometres) in length.

  • Click the Show Walking Instructions check box on the Options for Your Trip Screen. If you do not check this box, Trip Planner will not provide you with walking instructions. For more assistance see Options for Your Trip in the Help menu.

  • Select the Walking Only Itinerary Option tab. It is the 4th tab from the left.
  • View your starting point beside the green “A” pin.
  • View the detailed walking directions.
  • View the distances for each part of your journey in kilometres.
  • View your destination beside the green “B” pin.

In addition to providing detailed written directions for your walking trip, Trip Planner also provides a dynamic map.

  • Click the multidirectional arrows to move the map up, down and side to side. Click the red circular button to place your highlighted trip plan in the centre of the map. 
  • Click the + and – buttons to zoom in and zoom out.
  • Click the map style buttons to change the style of map. The default map view is Normal. The Satellite view shows the map as an image taken from space. The Hybrid view shows the map as an image taken from space but also shows street names and landmarks. 
  • The green “A” pin shows where your starting point is.
  • Your walking route is highlighted.
  • The green “B” pin shows your destination.
