Toronto’s entertainment leaders ensure free TTC service this New Year’s
New Year’s revelers returning home on January 1 will ride the TTC free between 12:01 a.m. and 4 a.m., the Toronto Transit Commission and Liberty Entertainment Group announced today.
“I am proud of the leadership and partnership the Toronto Entertainment Alliance has shown in coming together to preserve this important service," said Mayor David Miller. "Their invaluable contributions will ensure tens of thousands of Torontonians are able to enjoy a happy and safe New Year's Eve.”
“On behalf of the TTC and its riders, I would like to thank the Toronto Entertainment Alliance for providing this important service that will make New Year’s celebrations safer and more accessible for everyone,” said TTC Chair Adam Giambrone.
“After a night of celebration, it is our aim to help ensure our patrons arrive home safely,” said Nick Di Donato President & CEO, Liberty Entertainment Group. “Our customers’ well-being is always our number one priority. This initiative will make their trip home easy and safe, by providing them with complimentary TTC service. Our hope is that this initiative will continue for many future New Year’s Eve celebrations.”
All TTC subway, bus and streetcar routes will operate until 4 a.m. Wheel-Trans will operate until 3 a.m. The TTC’s Blue Night network will operate after 4 a.m. until regular subway service resumes at 9 a.m.

Day Pass Special
Every day from December 22 to January 2, 2009
Unlimited* travel all day, for a group of up to 6 people, maximum 2 adults over 19, from the start of service until 5:30 a.m. the next morning. Avoid the hassles of driving and the high cost of parking downtown. Available in advance at all subway stations or participating TTC ticket agents. For details - Day Pass conditions of use.

Service Schedule
Specific details for any route can be found by viewing a route schedule.
In general, the following service will run during the 2008 - 2009 holiday period:
- December 24, 2008 – Weekday service, afternoon peak period starts at 12:00 noon
- December 25, 2008 – Christmas Day – Sunday service
- December 26, 2008 – Boxing Day – Saturday service
- December 31, 2008 – Weekday service, afternoon peak period starts at 12:00 noon
New Year's Eve last train details:
Yonge-University-Spadina Subway leaves Union Station at 3:30 a.m. for Finch Station and 3:34 a.m. for Downsview Station;
Bloor-Danforth Subway leaves Bloor-Yonge Station at 3:37 a.m. for Kipling Station and at 3:37 a.m. for Kennedy Station;
Scarborough RT leaves Kennedy Station at 4:05 a.m. for McCowan Station;
Sheppard Subway leaves Sheppard-Yonge Station at 3:58 a.m. for Don Mills Station. - January 1, 2009 – New Year's Day – Sunday service
