We are currently seeking dedicated, customer-focused individuals to join our team of Wheel-Trans Operators. As a Wheel Trans Operator, you will play a key role in maintaining our tradition of first-rate service, as well as fostering and maintaining customer relations. You will provide a door-to-door accessible transit service to individuals with disabilities and/or limited physical functional mobility.

An ideal candidate for Wheel-Trans Operator must meet the following:

Basic Qualifications:

  • A Grade 12 secondary school diploma or the equivalent.
    Frequently Asked Questions - Grade 12 High School Diploma Requirement
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively
  • Be able to work a flexible work schedule that includes various shifts and off days
  • Must have knowledge of major roads, intersections and relevant points of interest in the city of Toronto

Driving Requirements:

  • Have a non-probationary Ontario driver’s licence, Class “G”, in good standing and showing no suspensions
  • Meet all legislated standards governing the issuance of a Class “E” Licence
  • Drivers abstract should meet the standards outlined below:

Number of Offences   Demerit Points
0 or 1  0 to 3  Acceptable
2 0 to 2 Acceptable
2 or more   3 Unacceptable - must wait to apply when abstract is acceptable
3 0 Unacceptable - must wait to apply when abstract is acceptable

A driver begins with zero demerit points and accumulates demerit points for convictions.

Pay and Benefits:

The TTC offers competitive wages and benefits including: Healthcare and Dental plans, Group Life Insurance and a Pension Plan. As per the Local 113 ATU Collective Agreement, the starting hourly wage rate for this opportunity is $22.56 (rate after training) to $29.43 (after 24 months).
