You will be responsible for providing TTC customers and the general public with accurate and timely reports on transit service conditions via public address announcements and updates to the OneStop screens in subway stations as well as via live radio and television broadcasts.  You will also write, edit and disseminate important TTC information to news media and act as spokesperson as required. In addition, you will write and execute communications plans for external and internal audiences; work with Marketing and Customer Service to write schedules and record promotional messages; draft news releases; and prepare internal notices, including contributions to the staff newsletter (The Coupler).  Annual Salary Range: $48,248.20 - $60,260.20 (Level 6) Under Review

Skills/Knowledge/Experience

You require knowledge of communications, public relations and/or radio/television concepts, principles and techniques.  You must be proficient in the use of a personal computer and software applications relevant to the work.  Effective verbal communication skills are required including a pleasant manner and a clear voice and diction for delivering live and taped reports for television/radio broadcasts and/or public address announcements.  Excellent interpersonal skills are required including the ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with the media and the public.  Good written communication skills, good judgement, discretion, accuracy and timeliness are essential when dealing with the media.  These skills and knowledge would normally be acquired through post secondary education in communications, public relations, or radio/television, or the equivalent, combined with some directly related work experience.
