CADD Operator
Signals and Train Control Engineering - Track and Structure Department
Reporting to the Superintendent Train Control Engineering, you are responsible for preparing the preliminary, final design, as-built and contract drawings for various signal projects including revisions to existing signal circuits and signal system related mechanical drawings using computer aided design and manual drafting methods. You will liaise and co-ordinate with various areas of the Track & Structure Department as well as other TTC Departments to ensure coherence, consistency and accuracy of information on drawings for Signals & Train Control Engineering projects. This involves verifying site conditions; reviewing existing drawings, specifications, records and related as-built drawings; researching information as directed to ensure that final drawings are practical and presentable and meet requirements of applicable codes, regulations and Commission design standards; conducting studies as directed; preparing various reports related to the work of the Department and performing other duties as assigned. Responsible for treating passengers and/or employees with respect and dignity and ensuring the needs of passengers or employees with disabilities are accommodated and/or addressed (if applicable and within their area of responsibility) in accordance with the Ontario Human Rights Code and Related Orders so that they can fully benefit from the TTC as a service-provider and an employer.
Skills/Knowledge/Experience
You must have strong drawing comprehension skills combined with a sound knowledge of the drafting and design principles, methods and practices applicable to Signals & Train Control Engineering projects. You have a good knowledge of the applicable codes and regulations and have the ability to rapidly become familiar with the Commission's signal systems and equipment as well as the various functions carried out by the Track & Structure Department. You must be very familiar with TTC CADD standards, guidelines and procedures and be proficient in the preparation of complex drawings utilizing Bentley Microstation CADD, Project Wise and related computerized applications such as scanner/image conversion software and Microsoft Office. You have good drafting, detail design, analytical and problem solving skills as well as good organizational, verbal and technical report writing skills. These skills and knowledge would normally be acquired by obtaining a Community College Diploma in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering Technology, or the equivalent, combined with related work experience in an environment where CADD systems would be extensively used to produce electrical drawings. Must have or rapidly acquire a comprehensive knowledge of the Ontario Human Rights Code and Related Orders including disability accommodation and accessibility requirements pertaining to passengers and employees.
Annual Salary Range: $57,202.60 - $71,471.40 (Level 7)
