February 2011
- Construction to commence the week of February 20th
January 2011
- Construction Contract U2-7 awarded to EllisDon Corporation.
November 2010
- Contract award anticipated in December 2010
- Construction to commence in early 2011
- Details will be posted prior to the start of construction.
April 2010
- Construction of the sewer relocation is complete.
- The design phase of the contract is complete.
- The construction contract is currently out for tender with a closing date of July 21, 2010.
March 2008
- Sewer Relocation - Preliminary construction work completed.
June 2, 2006
- Sewer relocation - Preliminary construction work to begin

The TTC received the following approvals for the Union Subway Station Second Platform and Concourse Improvements Project:
- The Canadian Environmental Assessment Act requirements were met and Decision Report was issued by Human Resources Development Canada (HRDC) on September 22, 2004. The Minister of the Environment granted a Declaration Order on December 8, 2004.
- On November 17, 2004 the TTC approved the conceptual design and authorized staff to present the concept to the Toronto Waterfront Revitalization Corporation (TWRC) to obtain funding approval in the amount of $90 million.
- The TWRC Board at its December 2, 2004 meeting unanimously approved the TTC's $90 million project.

Under the Ontario Environmental Assessment Act, the TTC is requesting a “Declaration Order”, due to the positive impact of the Project. On December 1, 2003, TTC submitted the Declaration Order Request and Background Report to the Ontario Minister of the Environment. The Background Report includes a description of the project and its expected environmental impacts, as well as TTC’s commitments to mitigate (reduce) these impacts and to conduct ongoing public consultation.

On June 24, 2003 the TTC held a public open house to introduce the TTC Union Subway Station Second Platform and Concourse Improvements Project. The public were provided the opportunity to review the options that were considered for the addition of a second platform and reconfiguration of the concourse area. Almost 1,000 people attended, viewed the information panels and talked with TTC project staff.
