The Transit City Light Rail Plan was approved by the Toronto Transit Commission on March 21, 2007.

July 2007 - At its meeting of July 16-19, 2007, City Council unanimously adopted the Climate Change, Clean Air and Sustainable Energy Action Plan recommendations,  including initiating environmental and engineering studies for the Transit City plan and submitting a schedule to complete studies and a financial plan including funding sources and revenue tools.
