Starting Wednesday, January 14, 2009 TTC customers will be able to get information about subway/RT service disruptions by subscribing to My TTC e-Alerts.

Since the Fall of 2007 electronic notices have been posted at the TTC website under Service Advisories, to advise customers of major service disruptions on the subway and Scarborough RT. The information advises customers of the location of the disruption and informs them that shuttle buses have been put in place. E-Alerts is a subscription based service that allows customers to receive this information via email.

Project work to expand the system to include SMS text messaging, notification of disruptions for bus and streetcar routes and filtering functionality to allow customers to elect to receive information based on location, station, time of day, etc. has commenced.

The TTC will be implementing many other new features to improve and enhance customer communications and the TTC experience. This includes the web-based trip planning application which is scheduled to be online this Summer, Internet based purchase of passes and enhancements to the Next Vehicle Arrival System which was launched in Pilot mode in December 2008.
