TTC Station Manager on Subway Platform.

October 2010

The TTC introduced its first group of Station Managers on Sept. 13.

The first phase of the Station Managers will be assigned to the Yonge-University line from Queen to Museum Stations seven days a week. They will roam their zones and respond to subway delays and emergencies, report maintenance and cleanliness issues, support Collectors and Janitors, and provide overall customer service.

“This is a position where we can meet one-on-one with our customers,” says Station Manager Mark Hemming. “Union Station is my community, I’ve gotten to know the riders, the employees, the station retailers and the nearby hotdog vendor.”

Station Managers will work shifts from Monday to Saturday, 6:30 a.m. to 10 p.m., and on Sunday, 9:30 a.m. to 1 a.m. They are assigned to three zones:

  • Zone 1: Union Station.
  • Zone 2: King and Queen Stations.
  • Zone 3: St Andrew to Museum Stations.

The Commission voted in favour of the Station Manager concept last Feburary. They were also recommended by the Customer Service Advisory Panel.
