A Message from Gary Webster
CGM message to employees
1.5 million pairs of eyes
September 2009
A public safety campaign aimed at keeping customers and employees alert to safety and security concerns on the system will be rolled out next month.
The awareness campaign will take the form of visually striking posters and billboards in all of our stations and vehicles. The message conveyed to employees, and to the nearly 1.5 million daily riders, is simple: if you have a security concern, report it to police or a TTC uniformed employee.
The idea behind this awareness campaign is to remind ourselves and our customers that we all play an important role in keeping the TTC safe.
As employees, we are the eyes and ears of the system. We can set an example for customers by being vigilant. Maintain a high level of alertness while on duty and immediately communicate to Transit Control or CIS anything that appears suspicious, or anything that is reported to you by a customer that is a security concern.
Please remember to:
- Be aware of your surroundings.
- Report observations and activities or things that look out of place or out of the ordinary.
- Report any vandalism, graffiti or scratchitti on the TTC.
You will be able to see and read more about the Committed to Public Safety campaign in your next issue of Coupler.
