TTC installing heart defibrillators in 30 stations

The TTC announced the installation of Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) in subway stations across the system on March 2.
A total of 30 defibrillators will be installed at the TTC’s 30 busiest stations by late spring. The units will be located in the vicinity Collector Booths, in glass-fronted white cabinets about 15 inches by 13 inches in size.
“Defibrillators are an important safety tool to help protect the well-being of our riders,” said TTC Vice-Chair Joe Mihevc.
A joint announcement was made at Bloor-Yonge Station by the TTC, Toronto EMS, the Ontario Ministry of Health Promotion and the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario. Bloor-Yonge Station is the TTC’s busiest station with more than 200,000 people passing through every business day. Last year, the subway station with the most EMS calls was Bloor-Yonge.
