Mount Dennis officially opened
Division/garage is TTC's 7th operating complex
January 2009
Mount Dennis Garage/Division officially opened on Dec. 11, 2008. The complex began operating on Nov. 23, the day the TTC introduced major service improvements to 113 bus routes.
Mount Dennis is home to more than 700 employees and more than 250 buses. The TTC’s seventh operating complex cost $99.2 million to construct.
The building is primarily clad with grey-ribbed pre-cast concrete with blue glazing housed in clear anodized aluminum frames, and surrounded by landscaping and ornamental fencing. Its features include:
- Indoor bus storage
- Repair and service bays.
- Paint and body shops.
- Hoist and inspection pits.
- Parts and materials storage area.
- Offices, lunchrooms, locker rooms and Operators’ waiting areas
for employees. - Employee parking.
The Commission approved construction in October 2004. Building construction began in the winter of 2006. The complex began operating with the start of last November’s board period, which saw major service improvements to 113 bus routes. Mount Dennis was scheduled to open last year, but was postponed as a way to address the City of Toronto’s cash crunch.
The last operating division/garage to open was the new Eglinton Garage in 2002.
Mount Dennis is located in the Black Creek/Trethewey area in the former City of York.
