TTC awarded APTA Gold for safety
TTC bus safety ranks tops in North America

August 2009
The American Public Transportation Association (APTA) presented the TTC with its highest safety honour for systems operating 30 million or more passenger trips. APTA’s Bus Safety Awards go to public transit systems for their safety records and dedication to bettering safety performance. The TTC was recognized at the APTA Bus and Paratransit Conference in Seattle.
TTC Operator Bruce Reid, the TTC’s 2008 Bus Roadeo Grand Champion, finished an impressive fifth overall at the APTA Bus Roadeo driving competition earlier this year.
APTA Vice-Chair of Canadian Members, Angela Iannuzziello, presented Rick Cornacchia, General Manager of Operations, with the Gold Award for Bus Safety at a Commission Meeting on July 9. Cornacchia accepted on behalf of all Bus Operations employees and the nine CARE Committees involved in the Work Safe-Home Safe initiative.
