The TTC’s website, ttc.ca, launched its new look on Aug. 10.

The new site is designed to be accessible, simple and easy to use with up-to-date information. It’s also set up to be flexible for future applications.

Content and new sections are still being added onto the website.

One of the most anticipated features in the works is a web-based trip planning application. When it’s online next summer, TTC users will have a self-serve means of planning their transit trips using routing information, timing points and walking distances. It will be available 24 hours a day.

Other features on the way include email subscription to receive service disruption alerts, systems to provide real-time next-vehicle arrival information (buses, streetcars and trains) and online purchases of fare media (i.e. adult, weekly, student passes).

The TTC retired its original website, which hadn’t undergone any significant changes since it was launched into cyberspace in 1998.

Today, ttc.ca gets more than 12 million visits annually – about half of those are to the TTC schedules directory.
